Annika Völtz

Annika studied in Germany and has earned both her Bachelor and Masters degrees in areas specializing in how physicality and movement can promote personal development in a holistic way, as well as pedagogy for special needs children, childhood development and the science of sports. Annika is an internationally accredited life coach and has a Trainer License B in Equestrian through the German Equestrian Federation.

Board of Directors
Todd Statham

Todd is a chaplain at UBC Okanagan where he works with students, staff and faculty. Since completing a PhD at McGill University, Todd has worked in Germany, Malawi and Canada as a lecturer, pastor, researcher and teacher. He’s found horses to be a wonderful resource for helping students heal and grow in body, mind and soul. Todd is an active volunteer, serving on the boards of Kelowna Christian School and The Stanford and Priscilla Reid Trust as well as serving his church denomination (Christian Reformed) in various capacities. Married to Annika, they share many adventures and parent their three children, two cats, six horses and often a few other young people who find their way into their lives.
Jen Wagler

Hi, I'm Jen Wagler, a dedicated bookkeeper with a passion for supporting non-profit organizations. I'm especially committed to helping people facing challenges. My goal is to create inclusive and caring environments through my work, while building meaningful connections with the communities I serve.
Trevor Butler

Trevor is a professional Engineer and researcher at Athabasca University. He has specialized in green building design during his 30+ years career experience. Originally from the UK and now based in BC since 2008. Trevor is honoured to serve on the board with SPARK and to work with Annika and fellow board members, staff and volunteers. He is especially interested in learning more about horses and how they can promote wellness.
April Martin

April is an advocate for children, and community well-being. As the founder and Executive Director of the PURKIDS Foundation, she brings nearly 2 decades of experience in non-profit leadership and community connection. With a background in child psychology, sociology and early literacy, she's spent much of her time creating and supporting programs that help young people feel seen, supported, and like they truly belong.

April is deeply inspired by the way SPARK uses the power of human-animal connection to support mental wellness and emotional growth. She's excited to support a team that's doing such meaningful, hands-on work in our community every day.
